Shubman Gill: Even when I was not scoring runs, I always thought I made the right call (to move to No.3), it was never about the number, it was just about my own performance. It was more about me being able to play both the roles - playing spin and pace. In the India A and Ranji Trophy matches that I played, I did bat at No. 5, No.4 and No. 3 as well and I did score some runs there. I was always confident about me being able to score runs apart from opening. There's a different kind of confidence you get when you stand your ground and you punch a bowler down the ground. (On Pant's unusual shots) It's very different from the way that I play, so watching someone like him play those shots, I feel like I have the best seat in the house. Just having those conversations with him in the middle, I could tell that he's now sensing to do something different. We don't really talk that much about cricket, it's more about having fun in the middle, just being normal how we are off the field.
Pitch Report | Murali Kartik and Dinesh Karthik: "There is enough and more to keep the spinners interested. I am standing at the end which closer to the pavilion from where the batters were facing Ravichandran Ashwin - there is enough and more turn for the spinners from the straight. Keeps everyone interested, the slip, the wicketkeeper. This pitch is crumbling, there's enough happening for the spinners. And why it happens on a red soil pitch is the fact that it is powdery. This powdery nature tells you how hard the pitch is and hence when it disintegrates, it becomes that much more for the spinners to work with.
