The players are out in the middle and DDS will start with himself.
Prabhat Jayasuriya - Really good, but we have to improve on some things. It was a big challenge for both of us (himself and Ramesh Mendis) because of the breeze, but as a professional cricketer, you need to deal with it. I'm working hard with my coaches, put in more effort. We were tired, bowled close to 80 overs and wanted to come back afresh (on deciding against taking the extra 30 minutes. If we give our 100%, I think we'll get this done quickly.
09:30 Local Time, 04:00 GMT, 09:30 IST: It's Day 5 in Galle and we are in for a possibly short but exciting session of cricket on our hands. Sri Lanka will start favourites and they need 2 wickets to clinch victory but New Zealand aren't too far off the pace. 68 runs could be a lot on this deteriorating surface, but with Rachin Ravindra going strong on 91*, they still have hope. It's that hope that they'll cling on as both teams chase vital WTC points. The second new ball is 12 overs away and that could play a decisive role as well. On a wicket that's definitely crumbling, the hosts will believe they've enough in the tank to usurp New Zealand and go 1-0 ahead.
17:36 Local Time, 12:06 GMT, 17:36 IST: Umpire Micheal Gough did give them the option of taking the extra 30 minutes, but DDS was happy to come back tomorrow. So, New Zealand have survived Day 4 and they'll need another 68 runs to complete a sensational victory. But it's Sri Lanka who're certainly the favourites and the hosts need just 2 more wickets to go 1-0 up in the series. 275 was always a tough ask on a wearing wicket and the visitors will rue the failure of many of their batters to convert their starts into bigger scores. Only Rachin Ravindra has stood amongst the ruins with a superb 91*, but he'll need to do something spectacular if he's to guide his team home. Tom Blundell was positive, but his positivity led to his downfall, bowled around his legs for 30. Glenn Phillips found the spin too hot to handle, so did Santner and Southee. Rachin watched it all from one end as the spinners ran amok on a helpful pitch. Jayasuriya was the best bowler with 3 scalps while Ramesh Mendis took 3 as well. It should be a short session tomorrow morning and we'll be back at 10 am for the first ball. For now, cheers and bye..
Will Sri lanka claim the extra half-an-hour?
