New Zealand have won the toss and have opted to bat
6 pm local: It has been a great few months for New Zealand. Their women team lifted the T20 World Cup and it was followed by the men creating history by whitewashing India in India. A lot has been said and written about both events, but they're past now and New Zealand have one final agenda left in their long Asian sojourn. They had lost the Tests here a month and a half back, but they're back for the white-leg part of the tour. It's an altogether completely different squad with several new faces led by Mitchell Santner and they'll definitely start as the underdogs. But so did their women's team and the Test squad for the India series? On the other hand, Sri Lanka have blossomed under the guidance of coach Sanath Jayasuriya and are building up a reputation at home. They beat West Indies in both formats last month and they're back to Dambulla for two T20Is over the weekend. Toss and team news coming up shortly..
