Biography
Mithun Manhas has been a tower of strength for Delhi in domestic cricket. A middle-order batsman who occasionally bowls off-spin and can keep wickets as well, Manhas, has been one of Delhi's most prominent cricketers since his first-class debut in 1997/98.
With players like Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir busy with national duties, Mithun Manhas captained Delhi for most periods since the start of this millennium. Whenever Gambhir was absent, he led the side and played a very crucial role in Delhi's triumphant Ranji campaign in 2007/08, where they won the trophy after a gap of 16 years.
Manhas' personal contribution during that season also deserves praise. He scored 598 runs that season, averaging just a shade below 50. He has played for three different franchises in the Indian Premier League - Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors India and Chennai Super Kings.
With just under 8000 runs in Ranji games, Manhas is currently fourth on the list of the highest run-scorers in Ranji history, not far behind Hrishikesh Kanitkar in the third place. With an average above 45 in both first-class games and his List A career, he has been one of the most consistent performers in the domestic circuit over the years.
