Biography

A Dutch-born Australian cricketer,  Timm van der Gugten, played for Tasmania and was also a part of the Netherlands cricket team. He first played First-class cricket for the New South Wales cricket team. Since he holds a Netherlands passport, it enabled him to play for the Netherlands national cricket team.

Van der Gugten made his T20I debut for Netherlands against Canada in March 2012. In the same month, he made his ODI debut against Afghanistan. His best ODI performance so far, came against Canada in August 2013 when he picked up his first 5-wicket haul in a match that Netherlands comfortably won by 9 wickets. He was also the player of the match for that game for his brilliant figures of 5 for 24.

After signing a contract with Glamorgan in 2016, van der Gugten delivered 82 wickets across formats and deservedly claimed some of the County's prestigious end-of-season awards. During that season, he managed five fifers and nipped out 4 for 14 in his T20 debut for Glamorgan, against Surrey, at the Kia Oval. Unfortunately for Tim, a shoulder injury suffered during an Inter-Continental Cup game ruled him out of the 2017 County season, but he came back strong to reaffirm his numbers in the following season.
