Biography
Richie Berrington is a South Africa born Scottish cricketer, who also played in the 2006 Under-19 World Cup for Scotland. His talent was evident throughout his days in the Under-15 side and at 18, he was sent to India as part of the ICC's European Cricket Academy. His ODI debut came against Ireland in 2008, after a stint with the Scotland 'A' team. A few gritty performances thereafter helped him became a permanent part of the side and he was awarded a full-time contract in March 2010.
However, the problem with Berrington has been his inconsistency, which has not allowed him to reach his true potential. Despite that, he churned out a decent performance in the World Cup Qualifiers in 2014, also registering his maiden ODI ton in the tournament. A spot in Scotland's 2015 World Cup squad was easy to secure after that.
