Biography

A fast bowler who is touted as a limited-overs specialist, Jahanara Alam has been particularly effective in T20 cricket. However, more than her skillset, she has been a part of Bangladesh cricket right from the time they got their ODI status till their latest achievement, the 2018 Asia Cup title. Jahanara was part of the side when they registered their first-ever ODI win and in the 2018 Asia Cup final, she was at the crease batting in a nervy finish as Bangladesh got across the line amidst huge tension. Right from her teenage days, Jahanara was known for her ability to clock speeds higher than anyone in her locality Khulna. Her first attempt at cricketing trials was a failure but that was before knowing much about the game. Apart from bowling at good pace, Jahanara has the priceless skill of swinging the ball and this makes her a dangerous commodity, especially when there is an iota of help. She is also a handy batter, and at times gets promoted as a pinch-hitter.
