Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet collect the trophy and they hand it over to the youngsters as India Women pose for the cameras. Now the support staff joins them. That brings an end to our live coverage of this contest folks! We'll be back on Sunday (December 22nd) for the live coverage of the first ODI between these two teams. For now, this is Nikhil signing off on behalf of Anurag and Siva. Goodbye!
Smriti Mandhana, Player of the Series: It's been five years since we haven't won a T20I series in India. That was the chat earlier in the day. We had the chance to do it after 5 years. Need to keep doing the right things now. With the kind of batting line-up, we have some new youngsters. So need to take responsibility. More than timing the ball, I try to put my head into playing according to the situation. Liked the way Richa Ghosh batted. The way the girls stepped up today, they played with a lot of intent. I wouldn't have been able to that playing my second or third match.
Richa Ghosh, Player of the Match: We got a good start today. The way Mandhana played, I just continued to do that. I play in the same way in the nets. I like to hit the ball when it its in the slot. Feels good as all of us contributed in the team's victory. Happy with my contribution too.
Hayley Matthews: We probably didn't bowl well. Was one of those wickets where there was very small margin for error. Kudos to the way Mandhana and Ghosh batted. We spoke about coming out with a lot of energy before the start of the game. They (Indian batters) got going quickly, we couldn't bounce back after that. We need to be disciplined in the (ODI series.) Some players have let us down. We have done well with the bat and played according to the conditions. We can take a few positives from this series.
Saima: It's a good bunch to play alongside. I am happy that I executed my plans well. We had the belief that we are going to defend the total. We didn't bother about the dew factor.
22:30 Local Time, 17:00 GMT, 22:30 IST: India Women win in an emphatic manner and clinch the T20I series by a 2-1 margin. They were outplayed in the previous game by West Indies Women, however, they were phenomenal tonight. Mandhana gave India the perfect start with her knock of 77(47), while Richa Ghosh played an enterprising knock of 54(21). As a result of these fifties by Mandhana and Ghosh, India Women finished with a massive total of 217/4 in 20 overs. In reply, the West Indian top-order batters couldn't get going quickly and although few of their batters got starts, none were able to convert them into big scores. Chinelle Henry showed some promise with her attacking approach, but the required run rate had hit the roof by then. The West Indies Women kept losing wickets thereafter and fell short of the target by 60 runs. Stay around for the presentations..
